Battery Rickshaw Ringas to Shyam Mandir Darshan

If you are reaching Khatu Shyam Ji by train, your journey almost always ends at Ringas Junction (also spelled Reengus). From there, the temple is still about 15 km away — and the cheapest, easiest way to cover that last stretch is a battery rickshaw (e-rickshaw).

This page is plain, honest information. MyKhatuTrip does not sell, book, or take commission on these e-rickshaws. We do not list them as a paid service. We are simply telling you what the real, on-ground rates and pickup points are, so nobody overcharges you on your first visit.

Quick answer

  • Where: Ringas (Reengus) Junction railway station, or Khatu Mod on the highway
  • Distance to Khatu Shyam Mandir: about 15 km
  • Time: roughly 35 to 45 minutes by e-rickshaw
  • Full rickshaw (private hire): ₹400 – ₹600 for the whole vehicle
  • Shared / group seat: ₹100 – ₹150 per person

Why the e-rickshaw is the smart choice from Ringas

Ringas is the nearest railway station to Khatu Shyam Ji. Most pilgrims from Delhi, Jaipur, Haryana and beyond get down here.

Outside the station you will find battery rickshaws lined up all day. They are quiet, they do not burn diesel, and they cost a fraction of what a car taxi costs for the same 15 km.

For a couple, a small family, or a group of friends with light luggage, this is genuinely the best value ride to the mandir.

Where exactly to catch one

1. Ringas Junction (Reengus railway station)

Walk out of the main station gate. The e-rickshaw stand is right there in the parking area. Drivers will call out "Khatu, Khatu" — that is your ride.

2. Khatu Mod

If you arrive by bus on the Jaipur–Sikar highway, you will be dropped at Khatu Mod (the Khatu turning). E-rickshaws wait at this junction too and run the remaining stretch to the temple.

3. From Reengus town

If you are staying overnight in Reengus, any local e-rickshaw in the market can take you to Khatu in the morning. Reengus to Khatu is that same ~15 km run.

Real fare chart

Type of rideWhat you getTypical fare
Full e-rickshaw (private)Whole vehicle to yourself — no waiting, no sharing, direct to the mandir₹400 – ₹600
Shared seatYou sit with other pilgrims; leaves once the rickshaw is full₹100 – ₹150 per person

These are the honest going rates. During Ekadashi, weekends, and especially the Falgun Mela, demand shoots up and drivers may quote more. A little politeness and a firm number usually settles it.

Full rickshaw or shared — which should you take?

Take the full rickshaw if you have elderly parents, small children, luggage, or you simply want to leave immediately. Split between 4 to 6 people, ₹500 works out to under ₹100 each anyway — with none of the waiting.

Take a shared seat if you are travelling solo or as a pair and are not in a hurry. It is the cheapest way to reach the temple, but the rickshaw only departs once every seat is filled, which can mean a 10 to 20 minute wait.

Tips so you are not overcharged

  • Fix the fare before you sit. Always. Say the number out loud and confirm it — "Khatu mandir tak, poori rickshaw, ₹500 — theek hai?"
  • Confirm it is the full vehicle if you are paying private rates, so the driver does not pick up extra passengers on the way.
  • Ask where he will drop you. Vehicles are stopped some distance from the temple on heavy-crowd days, so know your drop point in advance.
  • Carry change and use UPI. Most drivers accept UPI now; small notes still help.
  • Do not pay in advance. Pay when you reach.
  • Ignore over-eager touts who promise "special darshan" or hotel deals along with the ride. The ride is a ride, nothing more.

What the journey is like

The road from Ringas to Khatu is a straight rural stretch through fields and small villages. An e-rickshaw takes it slowly — usually 35 to 45 minutes.

It is open on the sides, so it is pleasant in winter and in the early morning, and hot in the middle of a summer afternoon. Carry water, and a cap or dupatta if you are travelling between April and June.

In monsoon, keep a light cover handy — the sides are open and rain does come in.

Best time to travel from Ringas

Early morning (5 AM – 8 AM): the most comfortable ride, and you reach in time for a calmer darshan.

Late evening: also easy, though fewer shared rickshaws run after dark, so you may need to hire the full vehicle.

Ekadashi and mela days: expect crowds at the stand, longer waits, and higher quotes. Plan extra time.

Other ways to cover the same 15 km

An e-rickshaw is not your only choice, just the cheapest one.

  • Shared jeep / tempo: similar price to a shared rickshaw, a bit faster, packed tighter.
  • Local bus: cheapest of all, but infrequent and slow.
  • Car taxi: the comfortable option — air conditioned, better for elders, night arrivals, monsoon and peak summer, and anyone with heavy luggage. If that suits your trip better, you can check verified taxi options here.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Khatu Shyam Ji from Ringas railway station?

About 15 km. An e-rickshaw covers it in roughly 35 to 45 minutes.

What is the e-rickshaw fare from Ringas to Khatu Shyam Mandir?

Around ₹400 to ₹600 if you hire the complete rickshaw, or about ₹100 to ₹150 per person for a shared seat.

Are e-rickshaws available at night?

Yes, but far fewer after late evening. At night you will most likely need to hire the full rickshaw, or take a taxi.

Is it safe for families and elderly pilgrims?

It is a common, everyday ride used by thousands of pilgrims. For very elderly travellers, or in heavy summer heat or rain, a closed car is more comfortable.

Can I book an e-rickshaw in advance on MyKhatuTrip?

No. We do not list or sell these rides. You hire them directly at the stand — that is exactly why they stay cheap.

Do drivers accept UPI?

Most do. Carrying some cash as a backup is still sensible.

A note on why we published this

A lot of first-time pilgrims get quoted ₹1,200 or more for this short 15 km ride simply because they do not know the real rate. There is no booking link on this page and nothing for us to earn here. This is just correct information, so your yatra starts without anyone taking advantage of you.
